Herbert J. Eubanks, Jr., age 80, of Marietta, GA, passed away on May 9, 2015 after a brief illness while on a trip doing two things he dearly loved – hanging out with a beloved grandson and touring the American West. Herbie was known for his gregarious and outgoing personality, the ease with which he made new friends, his pride in his 40 year career with Georgia Power and his many wonderful friends there, and above all, his love for his family and his God. Herbie was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta and in retirement became everyone’s handyman. Herbie truly was a man who never met a stranger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Cova, two daughters, Lisa and Lori and their husbands Dan and Rob, six grandchildren, Taylor, Trace, Amy, Aubrey, Trenton, and Anna Tate, one great-granddaughter, Evie, his brother Tommy, his sister Nancy, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, and many, many wonderful friends. Visitation with the family will be Thursday May 14 from 6-9 PM at H. M. Patterson & Sons Funeral Home in Marietta. A celebration of Herbie’s life will be held on Friday May 15 beginning at 1 PM at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. A private interment will be held on Friday at Georgia National Cemetery.
