I knew Hal through my parents Tim and Mary Glinski. Some of my great childhood memories involve spending time with Hal while visiting my parents during the summer. Hal was one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of knowing and has left us much too soon. My deepest condolences to Hal's family and friends during this time.

Hal was a dear friend to my parents, Tim & Mary Glinski. I have fond memories of spending time with him during the summers I spent in Georgia. He was a great man and taken far too soon. Please accept my deepest condolences during this difficult time. Peace be with you.

We believe that we are on the earth but a short time, but life is eternal.  Hal blessed us with his joyful exuberance for life, with his love of music and with his abounding care for those he loved and for those he met in his journey.  Hal blessed my whole family when he married Millie.  I will always remember his big smile, his pride in his family and the way he loved us all.  Let the music continue, Hal,- play on. Hal and I go back to 1975 in the old IBM G53 (Chicago South) branch office.  We became friends quickly and worked on many projects and branch parties.  As Chaz Cone stated here in this guestbook, he hired Hal and brought him down to Atlanta.  The prequel to that story is that I talked to Hal about joining our Planning Dept and then I put Hal in contact with Chaz, which led to his move to Atlanta.  I just finished reading my Qtr Century letter from Hal, including his poem and the Naked City brochure he included.  We had lots of great times in Chicago, and even more in Atlanta.  When we decided to put in a swimming pool at our home in Roswell in '82, Hal spent a long weekend helping me drag railroad ties to form the back wall.  He was the only person who wasn't too busy that weekend, and his willingness to help was very much appreciated.  Hal was a charter member of our "dinner club" back in those days, and we had many great dining adventures.  Hal and Millie attended our son's wedding 11 years ago, and that was the last time we saw him.  We kept up through the annual Harz Christmas newsletter and through email, but our paths have not crossed since that time.  The news of Hal's passing came as a shock, and it reminded me of Hal telling us of the premature death of Barry Forrest (another member of our Plannig team) while we were on assignment in Japan.  Hal brought that news, but it was Ivan Ruiz who conveyed the news about Hal.  We were a close group, both in Chicago and then in Atlanta.  It's so sad to hear that Hal is gone, and the memories have been coming back constantly over the last few days.  Mary and I wish Millie our best at this time, and hope that memories of Hal's wonderful laugh and outgoing nature will comfort her and the girls through this time.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hal and Millie have been my neighbors for the past five years and despite the close proximity, we never had a chance to really enjoy some quality time together.  It is certainly my fault, as we are always running and thinking that the people are across the street are very busy as well so you don’t want to bother them. I would see periodically Hal and Millie take care of their yard, which is the most beautiful landscape in the entire subdivision.  Every Christmas Holidays, Hal would put the most beautiful lights and ornaments outside, with the greatest taste. At Halloween kids would always be welcomed and well taking care of! To the entire family, we would like to express our sympathies and assurance of our affections and care.

Hal and I worked together at IBM for several years in the 80s.  I will remember Hal as the the guy with a quick laugh and the one who was always ready to help.  My prayers are with Hal and his family.

Hal worked with me at IBM in Atlanta. He was a cheerful, bright person who knew the business and was a great friend to work with.  He kept in touch when I had some major medical issues, always offering encouragement and an optimistic outlook. My deep condolences to his family.

Hal was the kind of guy who "knew you before you knew him."  His demeanor was always pleasent, engaging and of couse, helpful.  He genuinely listened and made one feel like a best friend.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Hal for a number of years.  He always had a smile and good cheer about him and he will be missed by a great number of IBMer's. My condolences to his family.

We enjoyed his smile, his laugh, his talent and his unending enthusiasm.  Hal was a great guy and we'll really miss him.  RIP

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Millie, Heather and Holly at this difficult time. Hal was one of those people in life you never forget and remember so fondly when you think of him. He will be greatly missed.

I worked with Hal at IBM in 1984-85, and have some very happy memories of traveling together on the 19-city roadshow tour around the US, including Hawaii!!  We traveled with Leslie Parham and Dave Tegge and had some crazy adventures.  I'll always remember the four of us snorkeling in Maui and getting crashed up against the rocks in the surf.  Many more fond memories.  Hal was a great guy, and I'm very sorry that he has passed away.

Although I had not seen Hal in over 25 years, I was so happy to hook up with him via FaceBook. We were great friends in our early days at IBM in Oak Brook. He was part of our group, which was known for having many, many  a good time. Hal was always a kind, generous and funny guy. My sincere sympathy to his entire family.

I brought Hal to Atlanta from Chicago to work in my department in IBM back in the early 80s.  During the interview I learned that Hal played guitar; that cinched the deal!  We've had many hours of shared music and laughter.  I'm so glad I got to see him with Millie on May 21st at the Cullowhee Reunion gig in Dahlonega.  I could tell he wasn't well but he never gave a clue.  My last memory of Hal has him enjoying the band as much as always.  We'll miss him -- a lot.

We got to know Hal and Millie because of our shared love of music.  They came to hear the band and became dear and cherished friends.  We will always be thankful to have known someone as special as "That Hal Guy".  We are blessed to have so many memories of good times spent together.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Millie, Heather, Holly, and the rest of your family at this very difficult time.  With sincere Sympathy and lots of love.

My late husband Bern and I worked with Hal at IBM and Hal and I stayed in touch over the years.  I always looked forward to seeing Hal and Milly at my annual Holiday gathering and enjoyed receiving the family newsletter highlighting the year's adventures.  I am so very sorry to hear of Hal's passing but know that there is great comfort to be found in the memories of his life and his impact on others.  My most sincere sympathy to his family.
