born in Harlem, NY, April 7,1926. Peacefully he departed this life October 10, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his Sister Gloria Henry.
So much can be said about this man of few words but the one thing that speaks volumes
about the life he lived was his heart to serve, even to the end.
George F. Daniel valiantly and proudly served in the US Navy in the 23rd and 34th
Sea Bee’s during World War II 1942-1945 in the South Pacific. He has been awarded
3 medals of Honor: The American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign and World War
II Victory Medal.
On August 4,1948, George gave his heart to Elizabeth Ann Franklin. From that union
they were blessed with two children, Charles Frederick Daniel and Patricia Ann Daniel.
George had a contagious sense of humor, was an avid reader, enjoyed the arts,
sports, traveled extensively and loved living.
After relocating to Atlanta in 1992, he and his wife Elizabeth both gave countless
hours of their time volunteering at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center, Northside
Hospital, and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games just to name a few. He served on
the Board of Friends for Benson; at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Center in Sandy
Springs, GA.
The love for family was evident in the love he had for his wife throughout their 62 yrs
of marriage. Patricia and Charles could not ask for a more loving and providing father.
The grandchildren and great-grandchildren admit there’s no greater “Papa.” He
played a major role in the life of Carlton by literally and figuratively being there for
