Fredia Faye Rollins, age 82, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2022 in Marietta, Georgia. Daughter of the late Mac Berezo and Fredia Lafferty, Fredia was born on July 13, 1940 in Dearborn, Michigan.
Fredia, known by family and friends as “Bootsie”, which was a nickname given to her as a child and stuck throughout her life. She spent most of her youth in West Virginia and later in life moved to Marietta, Georgia where they raised their family. While in high school and through mutual friends, she met the love of her life, W. Michael (Mike) Rollins and on February 18, 1958 they married. They spent the next thirty-two years together before his passing on September 7, 1990. Bootsie never married nor dated again after losing her high school sweetheart and he truly was the love of her life.
Throughout her adulthood, Bootsie would spend time cross stitching and was always glad to share family memories and history. Family was very important to her and she adored her boys. While raising her children, she always made sure they had everything they needed, but were also taught to work hard for the things they wanted. Bootsie also loved to shop, more as a hobby and acquired the nickname from her late husband as the “Retail Rambo”. Bootsie instilled her love for the holiday season by creating a beautiful home and she was a master in the kitchen. She had a heart full of love, an infectious laugh and a smile to light up any room. Bootsie loved being the one her family and friends went to when they needed advice, although it may not have been what they necessarily wanted to hear. She always spoke the truth and didn’t sugar coat things.
Bootsie was a very strong woman, independent and an incredible person full of love. She will be deeply missed by all and always said, “Love you bunches”.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother.
Bootsie is survived by her three sons; five grandchildren; two sisters; and many extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.
She will be laid to rest with her late husband, W. Michael Rollins, at Highlawn Cemetery in Oak Hill, West Virginia at a later date.
