Frances Irene McMahon

Frances Irene Cullen McMahon of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on December 28,2022, at the age of 97. She was born on April 16, 1925, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, to her late parents, Louis and Mary Cullen. She grew up on the eastern Alberta prairie living with her two brothers and sister in a small town where her father was the railroad station agent. She completed nursing school and worked as a hospital nurse and for a doctor in private practice until she married her husband, Howard McMahon, on September 6, 1951. She was very involved in the work of her church and the children’s education and pastimes. She was a loyal and wonderful friend, an avid bridge player and a lover of music, playing piano and enjoying the symphony and opera. She and Howard traveled extensively on cruises and group trips to enjoy wonderful destinations throughout Europe.

Along with her parents, Frances is predeceased by her husband, Howard. She is survived by her children, Patricia McMahon, Helen Grove, Paul McMahon (Linda), Michael McMahon (Becky) and Sean McMahon; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Friends are cordially invited for a visitation at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill Funeral Home, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, Georgia on Tuesday, January 3, 2022, from 2:30pm-4:30pm, with a prayer service and rosary to follow at 4:30pm. Frances will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Howard, at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia, in memory of Frances.
