It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Elsie Henderson Sosebee, age 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who entered in God’s hands on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude “Mac” Henderson; her mother, Nettie Mary Reeves Henderson; her sisters, Mary Ellen “Macy” King, and Elizabeth Jane McCroskey; stepson, Randy Sosebee.
Elsie was born on July 8, 1938 in Taylorsville, GA in Bartow County. She was raised on a dairy farm in Cobb County, GA and attended South Cobb High School, where she participated in many activities including: cheerleading, basketball, softball, and has helped do class reunions every year since graduation. Elsie has always been an avid gardener/farmer and owner of Sosebee Stables. Her father was a mason and her mother belonged to The Order of Eastern Star, in which she followed in their footsteps and became a member herself. She loved The Order of Eastern Star and held many positions with the order, her last being Secretary at Dallas Chapter and the Red Bird of Love in 2022-2023 Grand Chapter State of Georgia.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Preston “Leon” Sosebee; sister, Carolyn Henderson Manning; children, Tina Poole McGuire (Terry), Deborah Poole Garland, Anthony “Tony” D. Poole (Lorraine), Cherri Poole Sims, and stepson, Steve Sosebee; grandchildren, Brittney McGuire Gabriel, Bryan Poole, Leslie Poole Gzehouiak, Michelle Sims Lummus, Bradley J. McGuire, and Kyrie Garland Adkins; step-grandchildren, Teisha Ivey Sosebee, Tanya Sosebee, Cassandra Sosebee Wilson, and Nicole Sosebee; great-grandchildren, Gwendolynn, Audrey, Pierson, Carter, Bronson, Brooks, Logan, and Skylar; step-greatgrandchildren, Treylin, Preston, Dammian, Breana, Devin, Sutton, Cohen, Kenzie, and Desirae.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Bellamy Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Cole and Rev. Dennis Bellamy officiating. Interment to follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
