Mr. Ed Burgess Strickland

Ed Burgess Strickland of Marietta, GA passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in a car accident in Marietta. Ed was born to Jennie and William Strickland (deceased) in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. He was president of Hydradyne, LLC and was a member of the Atlanta Country Club, the National Fluid Power Association and Atlanta Classics Foundation. As a long-time member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, he served in Staff/Parrish Relations, on the Stewardship and Finance Board, Administrative Council, and leader of “Missions to Peru.” Ed was full of life and an encouraging community member. Many will miss his generosity, friendly personality and tremendous work ethic.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Lynn Strickland of Marietta, GA; mother-in-law, Lillian Mortimer of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Dara Springfield (Joe) of Marietta, GA; daughter Erika Unruh (Josh) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Brayden and Davin Springfield of Marietta, GA; and Ashton Cruz Unruh of Atlanta, GA; and sister Lisa Shelley of High Point, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 4 at 2 PM at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed’s memory to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church , 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068.
