She confessed Christ at an early age at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served until her
health began to decline.
She was joined in holy matrimony in 1954 to the late Houston Bailey, Jr. To this union, three children
were born. She later married Rufus Banks, and one child was born to this union.
She was employed and retired from Sharkey Issaquena Hospital as a Dietician.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Nora and Alice Pope; a daughter and son, Robert Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two (2) sons: Houston (Constance) Bailey III of Conley, Georgia
and Michael (Patricia) Banks of Inverness, Mississippi; daughter-in-love: Angela Bailey of Rolling
Fork, MS; nine (9) grandchildren, and twelve (12) great grandchildren, five (5) loving sisters-in-law
that cherished and loved her dearly: Delores Embry (Leonard), Helen Green (Roosevelt), Mary Bailey,
Maggie Chisley, Barbara Mayes (Clinton); two (2) brothers-in-love: AC Bailey (Shirley), Samuel Earl
(Louella), special friend/co-worker, Elmira Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorothy was well known within the Rolling Fork community for her beautiful smile and personality,
along with cooking and baking delicious meals and cakes. She never met a neighbor or friend that was
not welcomed into her home for one of her famous soul food meals.
