Deborah “Debe” G. Brake, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away February 6, 2017. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen Brake; children, Robert “Trey” Greene III (wife, Lauren), Chase Greene (wife, Erika), Jordan Ridgeway (husband, Merrill) and Colin Greene; grandchildren, Wyatt Greene, Cooper Greene, Camden Greene, Charlotte Ridgeway, and Henry Greene.
Debe was born in Elgin, Illinois on November 14, 1950 to parents Mary Rose and Roger Charles Gerber. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy, St. Charles, Illinois and went on to receive a Bachelor degree from Loretto Heights College, Denver, Colorado. Debe had a career as a special education teacher and a flight attendant before following her passion and starting her own interior design business and becoming a realtor.
Debe was active in music and sports growing up. She enjoyed singing, playing instruments and cheerleading. She was an outstanding tennis player and later became an avid golfer. Debe was very hands on and pursued a variety of interests in arts and crafts. She had a keen eye for design and was always very fashionable. Debe supported the arts and children’s charities.
Family was the center of Debe’s world. She was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved family gatherings, outings, and trips. She doted on her grandchildren. Her time spent with friends playing golf and socializing was both cherished and special.
Debe was a beautiful person. She was enthusiastic, sophisticated, full of life and energy, and could light up a room with her infectious smile. She was warm, loving, and had a tender heart. She easily gave love and received love in return many times over.
A celebration of life memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at H. M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30068.
