With another year passing, I can honestly say how much I miss my conversations with David…always focusing on family and living our best lives.  You are dearly missed my good friend.

David was a law school classmate.  I am truly sorry to hear of his passing.  He was a really nice guy.  Condolences to his family.

It is hard to find the right words. Despite time and distance I am truly heartbroken to hear of your passing. You were very kind to me as a little girl. I spoke very little English when we arrived from Spain, yet with your patience and kindness you helped me every night for hours doing my spelling homework. I even remember panicking when you had a business trip and my mom and aunt were left in charge of helping me. Many of my best childhood memories of Charlotte were spending time at your home. I hope you are at peace and watching over your loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with the Schulman family.

I am truly saddened today after hearing this news. Having dealt with several hundred real estate contacts during my 40 years in the business, I can honestly say David was at the top of my list of most respected and admired people. He was the living definition of a mensch. During our many hours of tedious negotiations on some very complicated deals....we always found time to discuss family and personal matters. That was just the way David lived his life. Always caring about others and how their life was going. A very sincere caring. Nothing fake about David at all. The world has lost a wonderful person. My deepest condolences to his family.

David was a great and genuine person, generous with his time, a fascinating conversationalist. For the past four months he was my manager at Staples (I joined the company in July). Because he was onboarding me, I got to spend more than my share of time with him—all of it, incidentally, online, as we both officed remotely in different cities. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of deals and was able to meticulously explain the positions the company had developed over the course of time in their negotiations. We also shared a love of Russian literature (though David read everything in the original while I, with only a few years of Russian in middle school, have had to read everything in translation) as well as movies—I have from David a list of Cold War science fiction films from the fifties that I am still working my way through. Sorry I was not given the opportunity to get to know you longer, David, like so many who have left messages here, but thanks very much for the truly memorable time that we were able to spend together. 

First and foremost to David’s family. May the love you shared with David full your heart and comfort you during this time. My deepest condolences go out to you.

Words have never been more inadequate to describe what a giant of a human being David was in every facet of his life. His intellect, humor, humanity, compassion, and outright decency are impossible to replace. My heart is broken for his family, for our industry, as the World is missing a valuable soul today. I was truly blessed to call David my friend, mentor, and inspiration. Rest in peace my brother . He was also a great person to enjoy food and wine with anywhere and everywhere. I’m saddened and heartbroken to know I’ll not have another chance on this side of Heaven to talk, laugh and catch up with David.  After meeting him more than 30 years ago, I’m grateful for so many opportunities to learn and pass on many of his valuable business and life lessons.  David’s warmth, sense of humor, honesty and genuine interest in others was always on display during every meeting, dinner, phone call, shopping center site visit, trade show or anywhere our travels would take us.

David was gifted in so many ways and I’m blessed to be able to smile and remember him as a leader, a mentor, a teammate and, most of all, a friend.  Haydee,  may the Lord bless and provide comfort and peace to you and your family at this difficult time. 

So sorry to hear about the loss of David.   I met David very early in my real estate career and he was a terrific inspiration to me.  No surprise that he was Andrew's brother!  David was always happy when I would see him at industry events, and I really enjoyed the time we spent together.  He will be deeply missed by everyone!  Best wishes to your family for strength and happiness during this difficult period.

David was a very gentle soul and someone who I always enjoyed working with. Always pleasant, always reasonable. David was a cherished brother, son and friend and will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to the entire Schulman family for their tragic loss. 

I can only add a tip of my hat to David’s consummate professionalism and steadfast gentleman status in all he did professionally.  I did not have the pleasure of knowing David outside of work, but his even keel and experience in our industry will be greatly missed. My condolences to his friends and family. David will be missed far and wide. I wish you peace and future smiles in your happy memories. 

I was a colleague of David's for several years at Staples.  I worked with him and for him, and that's the point.  As a real estate professional, he was a company and industry leader, but at the same time David provided a wide berth for his colleagues' professional development and allowing for individual creative solutions to business issues.

David's passing leaves an unfillable hole in the hearts of his family and within the real estate community.  Godspeed, David.

My deepest sympathies to the Schulman family. David was one of the best in our industry as he always prioritized the people part of what we do. He made friendships wherever he went and would always go out of his way to make someone feel welcomed. May his memory be eternal.

Not only was David always a consummate professional in business, but David was a kind and generous person, always with a smile and a good sense of humor, especially when crashing our ICSC dinners and other social events. :)

David is joining so many wonderful people in heaven, while I wish their reunion could have been many years from now.   David’s genuine personality allowed him make many friends.   He was a very talented real estate executive, a wonderful part of Staples and other retailers and worked long hours and made many sacrifices for the companies he worked for.    David was very well liked in the real estate industry because he was a terrific person.   He was kind, always tried to be fair, and even when he had to be tougher, David could never be mean.   

I never met anyone who didn’t have a nice word about David.   David had the highest degree of ethics.   He was the kind of person who liked people and people liked him.    David lived a life of honor and while it wasn’t as long as it should have been, it’s better to live a shorter life and be the kind of person David was than to be a bad person and live a long life.    

David will be missed by so many.   It was an honor to know and work with David.    I hope we can all do good deeds in David’s memory.   May David’s family be comforted during this devastating time and may David rest in peace among others he loved and others who will like him wherever he is.   


Though we were there at different times, David and I shared a history with Staples, Inc.  David was one of the people that I always looked forward to seeing and our conversations were always interesting.  He had a sense of wisdom and depth that was remarkable.  I will remember him always.  

Time and again I heard David described as a consummate professional. My own dealings with him proved that out. My condolences to David's family. A good person indeed.
