Clifford E. Thompson

Clifford E. Thompson, 86, of Marietta, Georgia (formerly of Clinton) died on July 25, 2021 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Cliff was born in Ohio and raised by his (uncle and aunt) Clyde and Vera Hawkins.

Cliff was a Paratrooper in the Army before starting a career in banking. He was President of Citizens State Bank working out of the Newport Branch and retired from First Financial Bank. He was a member of the Clinton Jaycee's and belonged to a local Friday the 13th club. He was an avid golfer and in retirement worked at several golf courses as a starter/ranger.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Viola Thompson, his wife of 35 years Janice (Benner) Thompson, his sister Sondra Thompson Frazier(Tom), a brother Barry Thompson, and a son Gary Thompson.

Cliff is survived by 4 children, Clifford Thompson (Jamie), Brenda Foltz (Randy), Steve Thompson (Lisa), and Jeff Thompson (Tiffany) and 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private ceremony will be held for family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.
