Charles Beardsley Ricker, 89, of Marietta, passed away January 6, 2017. He was born in Stratford, Connecticut on April 26, 1927 to parents Sylvia Louise Beardsley and William Wood Ricker. Charles was a proud United States Navy veteran who served during WWII on the U.S.S. Loeser DE 680. He studied at Columbia University in New York where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a 30 year career in electronics manufacturing with Perkin-Elmer. Charles was a 33rd Degree Mason and was a member of the Hodge Masonic Lodge. He was a boy scout in his youth and continued to be active as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons. Charles volunteered countless hours with the Villages Hospital Auxiliary in Florida during retirement, enjoyed playing golf, traveling and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine Ricker; children, Charles Ricker (Anita), Debra Cantamessa (John), Michael Borkowski, Doreen Donat, and Donna Najafi (Farid); 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and cousin, Alton Cheney (96), of Prescott, AZ.
Funeral services honoring his life will be conducted at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Marietta, Georgia, on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00AM. The family will be receiving guests one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Mount Bethel Music Ministry, mtbethel.org.
