Charles(Charlie) Edward Hoyt, beloved husband of Marilyn G. Hoyt of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully on July 15, 2012. Born on December 3, 1933, in Stamford, Connecticut, Charlie was the son of the late Joseph and Marion Hoyt. He was preceded in death by his sister, Fran Davis, of Englewood, Florida.
Charlie devoted his life to his family and to the service of his country and community. He served as a staff sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, and upon return to civilian life, was appointed to the Stamford, Connecticut Police Department. After 20 years of service and numerous recognitions, Charlie retired as a sergeant. He then continued his service to his community by being an active member of the Masons, Veterans Association and the Elks Club while living in Connecticut, Florida and Georgia.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, Charlie is survived by: stepsons Bob DeVaux and wife Robin of Marietta, Georgia, and John DeVaux of Sebastian, Florida; grandson Rob DeVaux and wife Donna of Kennesaw, Georgia; and 2 great granddaughters Emma and Ava DeVaux.
Charlie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and as a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The Graveside service will take place on July 19, 2012, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia
