Charles O. Gross, Sr. was born on June 1, 1939 in Vicksburg, MS to the late Harrison A. Gross, Sr. and Mattie Bell Hargo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Michael Wayne Gross, Sr.. Two brothers Harrison Gross, Sr. and Thomas Gross, Jr. one sister Gertrude Nash.
On August 1, 1958 Charles married his soul mate Alice. They were married for 55 years. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Charles started his work ethics at a very young age, beginning as a delivery boy in Vicksburg, MS. He finished his work at E J & E Railroad in Gary, Indiana where he retired. He was a very knowledgeable man with a great passion for fishing. On June 14, 2014 he made his transition to be with God.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife; Alice, one son; Charles Gross, Jr. and wife Chandra of Indianapolis, IN.. Two daughters; Angela Merritt of Chicago, IL and Tracey Brooks of Stone Mountain, GA. Step Mother; Julia Mary Gross of Vicksburg, MS. Three sisters; Brenda Gross, Sandra Elaine Gross of Vicksburg, MS and Mary (Clarence) Thomas of Pass Christian, MS. Two brothers; Benjamin Earl Turner of Chicago, IL and James E. Gross of Vicksburg, MS and a host of family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday June 21, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Amos Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 pm with the family receving friends from 6-8 pm. Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in charge of arrangements.
