He was born in Fyffe, AL on November 22, 1929. He graduated from Berry Academy in Rome, GA and from 1950 – 1952 he served in the U.S. Army with the 25th Division in Korea. After returning from service he was employed with GMAC where he retired with 30 plus years of service. He was a Charter Member of Eastside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the Deacon Board for many years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lillie Mae Bailey; sisters, Mildred B. Taylor and Josephine B. Bryant.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and was very kind and gracious to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia Hlas Bailey; children, Allison B. Leslie and her husband, John Leslie, Chris T. Bailey; sister, Thelma B. Nelson and her husband, Julian Nelson; grandchildren, Morgan Dunnam and her husband, Daniel Dunnam, Michael Leslie; great grandchildren, Shane Dunnam, Arabella Dunnam; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11 AM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Tim McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hour of 10 until 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
