Bruce Anthony Davis passed away from this life on 12/28/2020. He was the first-born child of Leon and Delette Davis on 7/7/54 in Springfield, MA, while father Leon served in the USAF. During his adolescent years, the family moved back to Red Cross, NC, and eventually to Asheboro's Balfour school district. Bruce made many memories during his time at Balfour Elementary, North Asheboro Jr High and at Clarence Smith baseball park. Bruce attended and graduated Asheboro High School and playing in the percussion section of the AHS marching band. Bruce was honored to attend his prestigious in-state University, enrolling at UNC Chapel Hill, where he quickly became a diehard Tar Heel and reveled in school spirit by continuing in the University's marching band.
After graduating from UNC with a BA in Economics, he moved to Atlanta, GA, where he worked for the Atlanta-Journal Constitution and Rich's Department Store. It didn't take long to move into the real estate industry where Bruce enjoyed a successful lifetime career. As a prolific broker and investment partner, Bruce worked on countless deals and projects, playing an integral role in well-known developments across the southeast. Bruce was a student of life, a voracious reader, writer and authored many real estate and industry related articles. He became a founding Partner in Bryant Commercial Real Estate Partners, which eventually merged with Lee and Associates, where he served as a Senior Partner.
Bruce spent much time participating in the East Side Baseball League, serving as umpire and coach for many years, in which many lifelong friendships were developed. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing enthusiast. Hundreds of long nights spent around campfires among family, friends, other hunters and especially his two children became some of his most valued memories.
Bruce was preceded in death by father Addison Leon Davis and mother Delette Anderson Davis of Asheboro, NC. He is survived by life partner Kathy Norris Godwin of Smyrna, GA, brother Jeff Davis (wife Rhonda) of Asheboro, NC, sister Amy King (husband Kenneth) of Oxford, NC, the mother of his children, Cynthia Nan Davis of Smyrna, GA, son Tyler Addison Davis of Asheville, NC, daughter Meredith Rikard (husband Jason) of Smyrna GA, grandsons Wyatt and Jackson Rikard.
A small memorial service will be held at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2000 Cobb Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA at 3:00pm on 1/9/21. The service can be viewed virtually at: https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaMemorialPark/
A celebration of life gathering will be held immediately following the service at Burn, 900 Battery Ave, #1000, Atlanta, GA 30339. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Georgia Wildlife Federation,11600 Hazelband Rd NE, Covington, GA 30014, or your local library.
