Aubrey Claud Emmett, age 80, of Cumming, Georgia and previously from Marietta, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Forsyth County, Georgia after an extended illness. Aubrey was born on September 14, 1937 at Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, to Claud and Nelia Emmett and, at age 17, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, a career that took him to Alaska and, later, to Nebraska, Florida, and Louisiana bases with the Strategic Air Command. Aubrey continued his career in the U.S Air Force Reserves at Dobbins AFB, Georgia as a flight engineer on the C-124 Globemaster II and later on the C-7 Caribou. Aubrey was also a long time civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force at Dobbins AFB, retiring in 1994.
Aubrey is survived by three sons, Alvin (Rhonda) Emmett of Ball Ground, GA, Mitchell (Nancy) Emmett of Kennesaw, GA, and Stephen (Courtney) Emmett, of Cumming, GA.
In addition to numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren, Aubrey is also survived by his brothers, Rev. Billy (Gail) Emmett of Gainesville, GA and Jesse “Bradley” Emmett, of Providence, Rhode Island.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 5 at 1 PM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Emmett officiating. Interment will follow, with Military Honors being provided by the U. S. Air Force, in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
