Artie Mae “Lil’ Mama” Summerour was born on July 1, 1927 in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Grant Allen Sr. and Esther Hill. She was six of 8 children, seven preceded her in death.
Artie Mae attended Lemon Street High School, in Marietta. She joined Noonday Baptist Church at an early age. She sang in the Choir and organized the Sunbeam Children Choir. She later moved her membership to Jackson Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mothers Board and sing in the Senior Choir until her health failed. She spent her life hosting family dinners and family reunions, in much love, prayer, and peace.
Artie Mae was united in holy matrimony to Paul Summerour Sr. To this union was born three sons.
Artie Mae worked at ARA Cafeteria at Lockheed, and many other jobs. She retired from General Motors. She had invested in several Real Estate properties. She enjoyed attending the Senior Center, meeting and talking to people. Lil’Mama loved gardening and helping, giving to anyone who was in need.
Artie Mae transcended this life on December 17, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memories, Three sons: Paul Summerour Jr., Frankie E. Summerour, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert E. Summerour (Edie), one brother Mr. & Mrs. Frank Allen (Odene). 12 grandchildren, and one granddaughter Omeila Ferrell, who preceded her in death, 26 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
