Alvin Jerome Freeman, 62, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away May 23, 2016. Born in Marietta to parents, Hollis and Margaret Freeman, he lived his whole life in Georgia. When Alvin wasn’t working, he loved to fish. You could always find him gathered with friends and a fishing pole. He took great pride in his work and projects which lead him into the role of entrepreneur in the fields of painting and cleaning offices. Alvin had a passion for taking care of his home and yard, especially mowing the lawn. The grass had to be cut a certain way or it just wasn’t right. He grew up playing football and was able to pass that love of football down to his sons. He enjoyed going to play’s at the theater with his wife, so much so, that many years that became his birthday present. Alvin had a passion for cooking and you could always find him wearing a hat around town. He loved his hats!
Alvin was not just a member of Cathedral of Turner Chapel AME, he also spent almost seventeen years working there in the maintenance department. He was much loved and will be missed by his family and his community.
Survivors include his wife of almost 39 years, Virginia Lowe Freeman; sons, Ashford Freeman, Lance ( Vanessa) Freeman; sister, Addie Joe Owens, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, 11 AM, at Cathedral of Turner Chapel AME in Marietta. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta.
