She was born on November 28, 1934, in Ipswich, England; she was the seventh of nine children, with three sisters and five brothers.
In 1953, Ruby met Raymond Johnson, an American serviceman stationed in England.
They married that same year, and their first son Mike was born in England.
Soon after, they relocated to Morrisville, Pennsylvania, where they continued their life together and continued to build a family. Ruby was a devoted mother to their nine children: Mike, Judy, Jeff, Bill, Carol, Ray, Staci, Keith, and Shana. Her love and devotion for her family was boundless. Her smile, laughter, and her wonderful sense of good humor was infectious. She loved everything about family; card games with the kids, sporting events, holidays – anything that brought her family together.
In 1982, Ruby and Ray moved to Coconut Creek, Florida, where they lived for a time with their daughter Judy, son-in-law Joe, and their two children. Ruby's passion for the care and well-being of children was clearly demonstrated in 1994 while she was working in a school cafeteria. At this time, she met three young children who were in foster care and, in her words, “very sad and in need of a loving home.” Without hesitation, Ruby and Ray, along with their daughter Judy’s family, welcomed the children into their home. Shortly thereafter, Ray and Ruby adopted the children and expanded their family even further.
Ruby and Ray shared 57 wonderful years of marriage together until Raymond's passing in 2010.
They created a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by their family forever.
They were blessed with nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; all of whom brought immense joy to their lives.
Ruby’s life and her husband Ray’s life are inseparable and the life they shared together was a true testament to the power of love, compassion, selflessness, and resilience.
Ruby answered to many names - Rue, Mom, Mommom, Sister, Friend - and all were greeted with a smile and kindness. She will be deeply missed by everyone who was extremely fortunate to have known her.
