Michael was born in 1930 to Pietro and Sabina Porcelli in Harrisburg, PA. He always captivated his family with many stories of what it was like to grow up on the farm and, as he was older, working in his father's bar.
Michael was in the Navy reserves for four years. He truly loved working on Naval aircrafts and military vehicles. His time in the service was another source of many tales at dinner about his many adventures.
He met his bride-to-be, Pat, at a Naval Squadron dance in 1956. They dated for 6 weeks and married in December of that year and the rest is "history". Their romance lasted 67 years and was blessed with four children, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His family meant the world to him and he loved them unconditionally. They always brought him so much joy and happiness.
He worked as an automobile mechanic for almost 50 years and was well respected by all of his customers and the community. After retiring from his trade, he became a Eucharistic Minister and the Sacristant at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in North Lauderdale, both jobs he cherished. As Sacristant, he served with parish priests, monsignors and bishops. He and his wife also served as Eucharistic Ministers when Pope John Paul II came to Miami in September of 1987. Michael was a very spiritual man who loved God immensely and passed that spirituality on to his children.
Michael leaves behind his bride, Patricia Porcelli of Margate, FL, his brother Peter Porcelli (Kathy) of Tamarac, FL, his daughters, Patricia Rowe (Don) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Deneen Mench (Micheal) of Live Oak, FL and Sabina Rinaldi of Sharpsburg, GA and his son, Michael Porcelli, Jr of Tamarac. He is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Gudinas (Danielle), Shannon Nagy (Geoffrey), Melissa Thomas (Charles), and James Rinaldi. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Josalyn Gudinas, Michael Gudinas, Austin Nagy, Cole Nagy, Piper Nagy, Logan Gudinas, Austin Thomas, Easton Gudinas, Sydney Thomas and Nash Gudinas. He also leaves our dear friend (his adopted granddaughter), Jennifer Ferrar who was with us throughout this journey.
He was predeceased by his parents Pietro and Sabina Porcelli as well as his brothers Victor and Joseph Porcelli, his sister Mary DiBrino and his grandson Joshua Fromen.
To our father,
We love you more than words could ever tell. A piece of our hearts will forever be missing you but, you and your immaculate soul will forever be in our hearts. Your love was unconditional and your hugs and encouraging words could cure all.
You are truly the best person any of us have had the privelage to know, let alone call Dad. We can't thank you enough for putting up with us with patience and understanding. We thank you for being our #1 supporter and giving us the most amazing childhood and life. Thank you for being the best Dad that anyone could have had and that anyone else would be blessed to have. There will not be a day that goes by that we will not miss you. You taught us to never give up and to keep fighting and that is exactly what we will do. We love you with all our hearts always and forever.
Your loving daughters.
