Kathleen was born in Rockaway, NJ on July 20, 1936, to Police Chief Andrew Chipko and his wife Meri. Kathleen was a proud member of the first graduating class of Morris Hills High School in 1954.
She relocated to Florida in 1979 and was employed as an Executive Client Services Associate for a several well-known wealth management companies for over 35 years. Kathleen was a devoted parishioner and super active volunteer at Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She served tirelessly at Lenten fish fries, the Thrift Shop, and many other fund-raising events. Kathleen also was a hard-working member of the Columbiettes Auxiliary and served as financial secretary.
Having a passion for adventure, Kathleen traveled the globe visiting unique locales such as Yugoslavia, the Soviet Union, Jerusalem, and Cuba. Her greatest joy was family and friends. For more than 50 years, Kathleen and her growing family spent summers at Seaside Park, NJ where she worked on her reading list, made lunches for the beach, and prepared delicious dinners before heading to the boardwalk with her crew. As anyone will testify, she was an amazing cook and took pure joy in feeding them all as often as she could.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, brother Peter Chipko, sisters Helen Wach, Anna Wilson, Mary Hubert, and Victoria Chipko as well as brother-in-laws Frank Wach, Chet Hubert, and Walter Adler.
Kathleen leaves behind a lifetime of loving memories for her adored sons, Edward W. McCarthy (Nancy), Caldwell, NJ, John F. McCarthy, North Lauderdale, FL, and her cherished daughter Denise Marcel McCarthy (Ron Bruce), Etters, PA. She leaves six treasured grandchildren, Nicole Benner (Scott), Edward (Megan), Ryan (Brie), Michelle (Jeff), Alyson (Mike), and Melissa (Kurt), and four precious great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Margarette C. Adler, Dover, NJ, and sister-in-law Lucy Chipko, Rockaway, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A devoted friend herself, Kathleen leaves behind many treasured friends. She also leaves behind her amazing rescue dog, Daisy (who rescued who?).
Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we will cherish our memories forever and always keep her spirit alive.
