Romano Dyer, Carmela, known as Milli Dyer, 83, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on June 30, 2014. She was employed by the City of North Lauderdale for over 37 years. Milli was the longest serving Municipal City Clerk in the state of Florida. Milli retired in June 2007 and was bestowed the honor of City Clerk "Emeritus" which is a term used when a person of importance in a given profession retires, so that her former rank can still be used in her title. Milli served the City and its Mayor, Commission and the residents well over her many years of service. She witness the growth of the City from a small bedroom community to a city of over 42, 000 residents. Milli loved her job and community and in return her dedication afforded her the honor of having one of the City's Fire Stations dedicated as the Milli Romano Dyer Public Safety Building in 2007. A street in the Broadview/Pompano Park section of the City is named Milli Dyer Terrace in her honor. Milli will be remembered and missed by the City of North Lauderdale family. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Marie Tuepker; sons in law, Mark Freerks and William Phelps; grand-children, Victoria (William) Weckenmann, Veronica (Brian) Boone, William Phelps III, Lucas Phelps, Tyler Tuepker; great- grandchild, Kathleen Linda Boone; brothers, Peter and Frank Romano; nieces, Karen, Fran and Debby Romano. Milli is predeceased by her daughter, Linda Freerks. She was an incredible woman who was loved by many and will be missed. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm and 6:00- 8:00 pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1 North State Road 7, Margate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 7, 2014 12:00 pm at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1400 S. State Road 7, North Lauderdale. Followed by entombment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S. State Road 7, North Lauderdale.
