

William Preston Blythe Jr., 58, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away on November 22, 2023. Born on January 13, 1965, in Elgin, Illinois, William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was always available to lend a helping hand, regardless of who you were. William had a warm heart and a contagious smile that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
William was a skilled carpenter, having pursued this career since 1984. He approached every project with meticulous planning and never let anything catch him off guard. When he wasn't working, you could often find him in his garage, listening to AC/DC and working on his beloved Harleys. Riding motorcycles with his wife, Ginger, brought him immense joy. William had a passion for life, always seeking to make those around him laugh and smile. He had an incredible sense of humor and never missed an opportunity for a joke.
In addition to his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Blythe, William is survived by his children: Preston Blythe, Britni Blythe, Terry Blythe, David Higginbotham, Sierra Gill, and their spouses, Stephanie Blythe, Myrena Higginbotham and Nathan Gill. He was a proud grandfather to Riley, Alden, Aeden, Ashten, Jaxson, Jagger, Ava, Anthony, Alijah and Layker. His niece Courtney, and nephew Bradyn. He was cherished by his siblings, Bonnie McGuire, Brad Blythe and their spouses Chuck Mcguire and Caryn Blythe. And his father's partner, Wilma Threlkeld. William was preceded in death by his parents, William Blythe Sr. and Betty Blythe, and his son, Daniel Higginbotham.
William's memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation for William Preston Blythe Jr. will be held on Sunday, December 3rd, at the Marengo-Union Funeral Home. 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo, Illinois 60152. The visitation will take place from 10am to 12pm, followed by the services starting at noon.
