He was born on April 20, 1939 to Albert R. and Annabelle M. Oser in Elgin, IL. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Elgin High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1961.
He traveled the world during his time of service on the USS Stribbling as a sonarman. He served the United States until his discharge in 1965. On April 2, 2005, he married Bonnie (Kunde) Lamz. Together, they enjoyed many travels, including several cruises with their friends. He had a love for cars, especially corvettes, while working in the automotive industry and retiring from Napa Auto Parts on McLean Ave in Elgin.
In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and making small replicas of scenic barns. He also enjoyed the warm summer weather while working in his yard and swimming in his pool with family.
He is survived by his wife, his sisters Barbara (Gordon) Hameister and Suzanne (Dan) McCartney, his stepchildren Bill (Jennifer) Hoeske, John Lamz (Valentino Gasca), Sarah (Nick) Lechner, and Andrew (Kim) Lamz, 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. A special thank you to JourneyCare for their services during his time at home.
A memorial gathering for Bob will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union, IL from 9:00 - 11:00 with a memorial service at 11:00. Luncheon will be served at the church following the service.
