Pamela Faye Carter was born on Feb. 15, 1953 in Williamson, West Virginia to Thomas and Sadie Patrick-Carter. Pamela passed away peacefully in her home in Machesney Park, IL at the young age of 70, on March 5th, 2023. She was the youngest of 7 children. Her parents moved to Chicago in the late 50s when work in the Kentucky coal mines became difficult to find.
She was preceded in death by her father Thomas; her mother Sadie Patrick-Carter; her sister Patricia (Lloyd) Smith of Marengo, IL; and her brothers James (Etta) Carter of Ypsilanti, MI and Hershel (Ruby Yackle) Carter of Lombard, IL.
She is survived by her ex-husband Donald M. Moehling of Marengo, IL; her two sons Donald J. (Kimberly) Moehling and Timothy (Lisa) Moehling both of Machesney Park, IL; and her brothers Bill (Rita) Carter of Piqua, OH, Gary (Sue) Carter of Huntly, IL and Donald (Mag) Carter of Smyrna, TN. She is also survived by her 3 amazing grandchildren Aubrie, Kendall, and Hunter Moehling.
During her life, she did and saw many things. Mom bought and sold real-estate, clerked at a grocery store, and was the proud owner of Lasting Treasures, a craft store in downtown Marengo.
In mom’s words, "I lived my life to help others". She was a devout Christian, and in her spare time she loved to research family history, to quilt, and to knit Afghans.
She moved to MI later in life to be closer to family there and had several amazing years there, living life on her own terms. Illinois was always her home however, and in 2021 she moved back to be closer to her children prior to her passing.
A visitation for Pamela will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo, Illinois 60152, followed immediately by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.
