Kenneth George Stein

Kenneth G. Stein, 83, of Marengo, passed away December 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born June 29, 1934 in Chicago; he was the son of Louis and Amalie (Hauke) Stein. He married Ann Kraeplin on May 12, 1956 in Elmhurst.

A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Masonic Lodge #1051 and Marengo United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, counter, a member of the men's club and a Stephen minister. He retired from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Ken enjoyed gardening, camping, cooking, bowling, photography, keeping busy re-purposing everything and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ann Stein; daughters, Linda (David) Wingate and Lori (Shawn) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Erik and Alison Zimmerman; brother, Robert (Lori) Stein; sister, Penny (Paul) Swiech.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Louis Stein.
