Judith C. Appel, 79, of Arlington Heights and formerly of Orange County, CA, passed away August 8, 2020.

She was born February 16, 1941 in Chicago to Walter and Clara (Bette) Guzier.

Judy loved the outdoors. She was a member of the Sierra Club and enjoyed camping, biking, and hiking. She had a passion for reading and devoured countless books. Judy lived most of her adult life in California and returned to Illinois to be close to her loving family.

Judy is survived by her sister, Lynn Grosse; her brother, James (Nancy) Guzier; her nieces and nephews, Teri (Cliff) Pahl, Amy (Scott) Bjork, Glen Guzier, Mark (Virginia) Guzier; and several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded death by her mother and step-father, Clara and Stanley Kruszewski.

There will be a gathering from 3 to 6pm on Friday, August 14 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Judy's love of reading, please buy a book and think of her.
