He was born February 16, 1936 to William and Florence (Larsen) Haeflinger. On November 13, 1955 he married Dolores Parochelli in Chicago. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
John was the owner of Winkelman’s Radiator for 31 years until his retirement in 1997. He had a passion for his horses and loved to be on his motorcycle. He was a longtime member of the Northern Illinois Beagle Club, raising field trial beagles with his longtime friend and former business partner, Irving Schirmer. He enjoyed spending time in the Florida Keys with family and friends. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He also loved his dog, Wyatt.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; his son, Anthony (Jody) Haeflinger; his grandsons, A.J. and Nico Haeflinger; and his nephews, Kenneth (Donna) Burns, Tim Burns, and William Frenzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joanne (Bob) Burns; and his nephews, Robert Burns Jr. and David Frenzel.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7pm on Saturday, October 25 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo.
