Gerald "Jerry" Kolberg, beloved son of Clarence and Mildred Kolberg, passed away on Tuesday April 16, 2024. Jerry was born on May 16, 1946 in Belvidere, Illinois. He was raised in the Crystal Lake area and graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1964.
He was drafted into the Army and spent his tour of duty on the DMZ in Korea. After his honorable discharge he returned to Illinois. He worked at several companies prior to joining what would become his favorite company, Delta Air Lines, in 1976. He worked in cabin service, reservations, and lastly as a computer technician for reservations, marketing, travel agencies and the airport. He was in that position until he took early retirement in 2000. He enjoyed working on his many projects at his house, Long Acres, with its 5 acres of land in Illinois and commuting to Maine to see his longtime girlfriend of 37 years. He was a wonderful partner and companion, steadfast and true blue. Wonderful times were spent dining out, antiquing, spending time with friends and traveling. After his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in 2015, they bought a house in Florida and spent winters there, returning to the Midwest for the summer, the best of both worlds.
He lived life to the fullest and always on his terms.
Godspeed and God bless Jerry.
You were the best!
