Ellen spent much of her childhood growing up in Chicago, IL and moved to Marengo, IL where she met Robert (Bob) J. Fritz, her late husband. Ellen and Bob raised 4 children: Kenneth Fritz, Scott Fritz; and the late James Fritz, and Patricia Fritz. Ellen is survived by her sons Kenneth and Scott, along with three grandchildren, Patrick Fritz, Samantha Fritz, and Sutton Fritz.
As a young woman Ellen worked at the Army Corps of Engineering before enlisting and serving in the Navy during WWII in San Diego, CA and Seattle, WA. Ellen returned from the Navy and attended Northern Illinois University. Ellen and Bob met shortly after Ellen returned home from the Navy, got married and lived in Marengo while raising their family. Ellen moved to Cape Coral, FL in 1985.
Throughout her life Ellen was enthusiastic about many sporting events. She attended many youth and High School sporting events cheering her children's teams. She was an avid White Sox fan and enjoyed playing golf and tennis.
Visitation on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 East Grant Highway, Marengo, IL 60152 from 12 p.m. until time of Prayers at 1:30p.m. and will proceed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor St, Marengo, IL 60152, for Mass at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
