She was born August 15, 1925 in Milwaukee to Martin and Anna (Cler) Scholtka. On May 24, 1947 she married Clarence Slais in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Doris was a past president of the Navy Club Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. Before moving to Union, IL in 2008 to be close to family, she was active in the building of her church parish in Rome, WI. She also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her sons, John (Mary) Slais, James Slais, Jeff (Debra) Slais; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings, Roy Scholtka, Violet Bentz, and June Gaurke.
There will be a visitation at 11am on Friday, May 28 at Graceland Cemetery, 6401 N. 43rd St, Milwaukee, WI, with a service to follow at 11:30am.
Interment in Graceland Cemetery.
