Dolores M. "Dee" Sorensen, 88, of Marengo passed away peacefully January 1, 2019 at home. She was born July 28, 1930 in Marengo to Henry and Bertha Laue. She married Richard "Dick" Sorensen on March 21, 1974, they were married for 38 years when he passed away October 23, 2011. She worked as a waitress most of her life and owned Marengo Café in the 1970s. She was co-owner with her husband of Dick Sorensen Pontiac Buick GMC in Oregon, IL and later of Dick Sorensen Auto Sales in Marengo.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy O'Neill; step-children, Rick, Andy, Tom, Nick, Vicki, and Patricia; sister, Eleanor Phelps; her niece, Marilyn Swanson; special friends Rob and Tonya Proffitt, the Larry Dauphin family, June Meyer, Fran Hume, Coco, and Sassy; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her sons, William and Steven; her daughter, Peggy; and siblings, Alfred, Robert, Harry, Floyd, Harvey, Della, and Cora.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Northwestern Huntley ICU and Kent, Ashley, and Stephanie from OSF Home Health Care.
Services for Dee will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marengo Rescue Squad or Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard.
