Charlotte Myrtie Deneen

Charlotte Myrtie (Reese) Deneen, 90, of Marengo died peacefully at her home on August 23, 2017 with her family continuously around her. She was born February 7, 1927 in Harvard, Illinois to Emil H. and Myrtie Mae (Wright) Reese. She married William F. Deneen on May 27, 1950 in Marengo.

Charlotte was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, the Harvard Moose Lodge, the Moose Golden Agers, Jaycettes, and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, Michael (Carol) Deneen of Harvard, and Luann (James) Kanaly of Marengo; seven grandchildren, Sarah (John W.) Isaacson, David Ley, John (Michelle) Kanaly, Kathy (Randy) Armknecht, Trenton (Deann) Bruha, Philip (Heather) Bruha, and Aaron (Alma) Bruha; thirteen great-grandchildren: John R. Isaacson, Scerean Ley, Tyler Kanaly, Aubrey & Leah Armknecht, Alyssa, Christopher, Blake, Cooper, Gavin, Cassandra & Andrew Bruha, and Lynzie Olivas; a sister-in-law, Marion Reese and brother-in-law, Robert Stoxen; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Emil, Clarence and Charles (Charlotte’s twin); and three sisters, Orillia Busch, Rose Schmidt and Martha Stoxen.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 East Grant Highway, Marengo, and will continue on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 East Diggins Street, Harvard. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Marengo.
