Charles G. Bonk Jr.

Charles G. Bonk Jr., 79, of Marengo, passed away December 29, 2016. Born December 2, 1937 in Chicago; he was the son of Charles G. and Lillian (Polgesek) Bonk. He married Kathleen E. Wilcox on September 22, 1973 in Marengo.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Charles retired from Union Special after more than 20 years of employment. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Marengo.

An avid fan of the Chicago Bears, White Sox and Blackhawks; Charles enjoyed NASCAR and traveling locally.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Bonk; children, Tammy (Tim) Schultz and Corey (Christina) Bonk; grandchildren, Lucas, Logan and Landon Bonk and Katherine “Paige” Schultz; brother, Dennis Bonk; and sister, Dorothy Mayo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marlene Ponzetti.

Visitation 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, January 2nd, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. Visitation continued 9 until 9:45 a.m.Tuesday, January3rd, at the funeral home with funeral mass to follow 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 323 North Taylor Street, Marengo.
