Catharine "Katie" "Katie" Loomis

She was born February 23, 1911, in Stillman Valley to Louis and Susie (Hurd) Carmichael. On July 26, 1941, she married Bartlett Loomis, he died in 1988.

She graduated from Stillman Valley High School and Illinois State in Normal. Katie taught school in Marengo for many years. She was a member of Marengo United Methodist Church. She was an accomplished piano and organ player. She played piano in a jazz band in college and the organ at weddings and funerals in Marengo. She loved to play bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs.

She is survived by her children, Linda Lockinger of Belvidere and Nancy (Ted) Kane of Colfax, WI; her grandchildren, Tami Cauffman of Rolling Prairie, IN, Mark (Toni) Osterberg of Green Bay, WI, Matt and Marty (Laura) Osterberg of Colfax, WI, Michele (Eric) Schlag of Kewaunee, WI, and Christina Savage of Belvidere; her great-grandchildren, Mark Jr. and Kayla Osterberg of Green Bay, WI; Matt Jr. and Samantha Osterberg of Eau Claire, WI, Jeremy Cauffman of Fremont, CA, Jeff Cauffman of Laporte, IN, Katelyn and Emily Savage of Belvidere, and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son, Richard; sister, Beatrice Carmichael; brother, Ronald Carmichael; grandson, Michael Osterberg; and sons-in-law, Steven Lockinger and Larry Osterberg.

Katie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to her caregiver, Cindy, and OSF Hospice.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Friday, November 26, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. The funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, November 27, at Marengo United Methodist Church, 119 E. Washington St., Marengo. Pastor Keck Mowry will officiate.

Interment will be in Marengo City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marengo United Methodist Church.
