Betty L. Anthony

Betty L. Anthony, 79, of Marengo passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. She was born January 8, 1934 in Belvidere to Alfred and Ethyl Dunker. She married Wylie “Doc” Anthony on December 28, 1956 in Dubuque, Iowa. She attended Marengo schools, graduating from Marengo High School class of 1951. She enjoyed RV’ing, sewing and crafts, and was a collector of dolls. Betty was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo.

She is survived by her children Lisa Anthony, Doug (Lynne) Anthony, grandchildren Caitlin (Josh Wagner) Anthony, Jake Anthony, sister Donna Dunker-Ackman, sisters-in-law Arlene (Robert) Persinger, Lydia (the late Pete) Anthony, and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband “Doc”.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thurs, Dec 12 at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson St. Marengo. Visitation will continue from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service on Fri, Dec 13 at the church. Interment will be in Highland Garden of Memories, Belvidere, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Tuition Assistance Fund at Zion Lutheran Church.
