William (Bill) Hubert Lange passed away at the age of 90 on December 18th, 2018. He was born to William and Ethel Lange in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Bill lived an adventurous life with many accomplishments including driving race cars, owning race horses, and sport fishing. Prior to retirement he had worked in the motion picture industry. He attended Marquette University.
Bill is survived by his brother Don and his four sons, Bill (Karen), John, Dan (Margo), and Jack (Robin). His late wife Veronica (Roni) passed in 1998. Their sons and their wives, in turn, raised children of their own: Katie, Elizabeth, Jeni, Brandon, Jordan, Darcy, Erika, Emily, Andrea, and William. And Bill was blessed to be the great-grandfather of Gracie, Tyler, and Veronica.
Bill grew up in Milwaukee. He raised his family there, in Pittsburgh, and in the suburbs of Chicago. In retirement, he spent his winter months on Marco Island, Florida, moving there permanently in 2009. There he enjoyed spending time with his friends, fishing, walking the beach, and volunteering at the Marco Island Museum. A history buff, Bill could often be found reading, or sharing his memories of Army life in Japan after WWII with family and friends. He served in the 11th Airborne Division, 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
Bill could be often found with his friends at Jacks Lookout and Da Vinci’s restaurant. And he attended Mass every Sunday at San Marco Catholic Church, often visiting a brick walkway outside the church that has the name of his late wife Roni.
