Susan Gentry Gaston

Susan Gentry Gaston, 76, of Marco Island, Florida passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2024. Susan was born October 21, 1948, in Laurinburg, North Carolina to Hansford and Mildred (McMillan) Gentry. She became a Marco Island resident in 1983 when she and her former husband, Bill Gaston, relocated from Southern Pines, North Carolina to Marco with their three children, Kristina, Tracy, and Bill.

Susan was a dance instructor for the majority of her working life. She created and shared a dance studio with her sister Janis in North Carolina and also created and operated a dance studio in Marco for many years. Susan enjoyed all forms of dance and loved teaching and performing — it was truly one of the passions in her life. After selling the Marco studio, Susan became more involved with the family cable business, Marco Island Cable. She also spent 20 years volunteering as a Guardian ad Litem for children in the Collier County foster care program. While serving as a Guardian ad Litem, Susan had the opportunity to help children. She additionally worked with women housed at the Shelter for Abused Women, a cause that became very important to her.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Hansford and Mildred (McMillan) Gentry. She is survived by her sister, Carol Barber (John), her brother, Peyton Gentry (Martha), her sister, Janis Bracey (Gordon), her daughters, Kristina Pruyn and Tracy Hartman, and her son, Bill Gaston, Jr. Susan is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, whom she loved dearly: Zachary and Kelsey Halaschak; Lauren, Jacob, Ethan, Kiley, Alexis, April, and Samantha Hartman; and Trey, Lily, and Alex Gaston. Her cats, Mack and Snookie will miss her greatly.

Private family services will be held on Friday, 12/27/24, at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 E. Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, Florida, 34145.
