Rob grew up on the family farm in Calhoun, KY and graduated from McLean Co. High School in 1972. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University and received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
Rob was an esteemed pharmacist and businessman, and after starting his career with well-known pharmacies Eckerd’s and Walgreens, went on to open several of his own pharmacies. He tirelessly served the communities where his businesses were located with great joy, imparting his vast knowledge of pharmaceuticals and engaging his customers with his effervescent personality and friendly conversations.
In his free time and after retirement, Rob enjoyed pursuing a variety of passions and hobbies and cherished his time with close family and friends. He loved flying a Cessna 172, traveling to different countries and across the United States, and trips with the Knoxville TN Ski Club. Rob’s greatest joy though was entertaining family and friends. He loved taking friends and family boating on the beautiful waters of the gulf or welcoming them to his beautiful home on Marco Island, FL, where he loved to garden and grow a variety of tropical fruits and citrus trees.
Rob was preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. Martin III (Bernice). He is survived by his brothers, David H. Martin and Michael W. Martin (Donna), and his sister, Mary Margaret Vanover. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, Jenny Martin Beck (Haley & Cooper), Jena Wayde Vanover (Walker), Gatlin Nofsinger, John Ross Martin, Rick Martin, Jennifer Forrester, Ashley Martin, Katie Martin. In addition to his family, Rob will be forever cherished and missed by his extremely close circle of friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
