Linda worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several years in both Missouri and Florida. She enjoyed bowling, painting ceramics, and singing in the church choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang on the radio in St. Louis when she was a young woman. Linda was married to Kenneth V. Poole, Sr., in 1958. they resided in St. Louis until 1975, when they decided to start a new adventure and to move to a farm in Farmington, MO with their 3 teenagers. In 1987 she and Ken moved to Ft. Myers, Florida and Linda went back to work, managing condominiums on Ft. Myers Beach. After about 10 years, they returned to the farm. Ken passed in 2000.
In 2004 Linda married Edwin L. Peters and soon moved to Quincy, IL. Linda enjoyed being close to Ed’s large family and soon began singing in the church choir. Ed was the owner of Peter’s Greenhouse for many years and she enjoyed going to see the beautiful flowers where Ed worked part-time for his son Terry, who now owns the business. Linda and Ed did extensive travelling for several years. Ed passed in 2016. Linda stayed in their home until 2021, when she moved to Lely Palms Retirement Community in Naples, FL.
Linda is survived by her two daughters: Nancy (Jay) Propst of Naples, FL and Mary Quinton (Glenn Walton). Five grandchildren: Adele (Sean) Agler and Sarah Propst (Jason Swinford), Kenneth V. Poole III, Allison Poole, and granddaughter-in-law Kristina Quinton. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
In addition to her late husband(s), Linda was also preceded in death by her son: Kenneth V. Poole, Jr., her grandson: Christopher Quinton, her sister: Sandra Trentmann and brother: Marty Hughes.
Private burial will take place in Quincy, Illinois at Calvary Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10:30am at Lely Palms Retirement Community Chapel, 1000 Lely Palms Drive, Naples, FL 34113. Memorial donations may be made to Avow Hospice of Naples.
