John Webster Wallen, 82, of Marco Island, Florida, formerly of Mason, Michigan, passed away at his home on Friday, October 18, 2019. John is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, of 58 years, son William, and brothers William (Sandy), Michael (Teresa), sister Karen Brieger, and their families.
He is preceded in death by his father Dr. LeRoy J. Wallen, mother Edna, and sister Sigrid.
John is also survived by brother-in-law Paul Seppala (Joanne), and families.
John was a graduate of Loretto Catholic High School in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He earned his BA and MA degrees from Michigan State University. Always considered both professionally and personally a wise and insightful man, he worked as a psychologist for 33 years in the Lansing area and was a member of the neonatal intensive care unit team for high risk infants and their parents at Sparrow Hospital. John was also in private practice with colleagues and dear friends, Dr. Martha Karson and Dr. James Kallman.
Retiring in 1992, John and Sandra moved to Europe where they were employed at The American School in London. Living there provided them opportunity for many memorable travel experiences. He loved his years of international travel with his family and living near the ocean. John lived well, laughed often and loved much.
The family is planning a celebration of John's life at The English Inn, Eaton Rapids, Michigan in the spring. Internment of his ashes will take place in Sault Ste. Marie, in August.
