Joann Elizabeth Drozd (Bringas) of Naples, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Born in El Paso, Texas on June 16, 1954, she is the only daughter of Tomas and Shirley Bringas. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Lawrence Drozd: daughter, Kristin Muñoz: son-in-law, Humberto Muñoz: grandson, Jordan James, of Addison, IL.
Joann served as a police officer for 30 years with the Roselle Police Department, where she retired as the first and highest-ranking female officer at that time in 2006, as Deputy Chief of Police. She was tough when she needed to be, fought for what was right, and held her ground when challenged. She was also the most loving, considerate, generous, kindhearted, and patient woman. Her generosity was constant to all those she encountered, and infinite to those she loved and loved her. She was infamous for never buying one of anything and multiples of everything, so she could share them with everyone she knew and loved. Those who loved her, were blessed to have her in their lives.
Upon retirement, she moved to Florida with her husband in 2006. She loved walking on the beach with her daughter, collecting seashells, and watching her grandson, J.J. play with his toy cars and in the pool. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to pay respects anytime on Monday, December 13, between 4-7 PM at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home located at 577 E. Elkcam Cir. Marco Island, FL 34145.
