James Homer Wright

James H. Wright, entered into eternal peace Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at age 98 in Naples, FL surrounded by his children. He also resided in Lachine, MI and a past resident of Dearborn Heights, MI.

Jim was born March 17, 1920 and preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene; parents Wilma and John Wright; brothers Richard and Dan; and sister Rebecca. Jim grew up in Detroit, MI. After graduating he enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX he met the “love of his life,” Irene, they were married on November 13, 1943 and were happily married for 72 years. Jim served as Army First Sergeant in General Patton’s 3rd Army receiving a Purple Heart (Battle of the Bulge) and three Bronze Stars. After being discharged in 1945 Jim served in the Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant for several years. He worked as a Stationary Steam Engineer and Power House Team Leader for 48 years until he retired in 1984 from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI. In addition, he held many part-time jobs at Cobo Hall, Briggs, and Olympia Stadiums to mention a few. He had many interests: time with family, cards, square dancing, and bowling. He played football, hockey and was a great baseball player. Also, he enjoyed many other winter and summer sports.

He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his children Jeraldine Price (Robert, dec’d), Jacqueline Wright, John Wright and Giselle Wright (Lawrence Watson); treasured grandchildren Laura (Bill), Robert (Katie), Jason, James (Kristen), Lindsay and Trevor; adoring great grandchildren Robert, Shane, Seth, Stephanie, Brynn, Jake, Libby, Henry and Samantha; loving sister Gloria Bowles, brother John Wright; sister-in-law Alicia Fabela, plus many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Jim touched the hearts of everyone he met and was greatly loved by many. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and loyal friend, co-worker and employee.

A memorial service will be held on July 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Tri-Lakes Baptist Church at 9100 Lee Rd., Brighton, Michigan, 48116. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at Lakelands Golf & Country Club at 8760 Chilson Rd. in Brighton, Michigan. Please RSVP to [email protected] by July 1, 2018.
