Born October 23, 1929 to Bernice R. (Tode) and Edward J. Bormann, Gail spent her early life in the western suburbs of Chicago. She attended Downers Grove North High School where she participated in cheering her team onto victory. Her cheerleading skills continued in life, devoting her love and support to her mother, her husband and her three daughters.
Gail met her life-long dance partner, John Joseph Schmidt, and they married in 1955. Later in life, Gail and her husband John spent many memorable years on Marco Island, Florida enjoying tennis, boating, fishing and the natural surroundings.
Gail had a great love of animals and enjoyed gardening. She had a lovely singing voice which was gladly welcomed at Mass and at all family occasions. Her sing-song greetings of “Good Morning” and “Hello” will continue to be replayed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Gail was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She lived her life with a gentle kindness, always carrying herself with poise and grace.
Predeceasing Gail were her mother Bernice and her husband John.
Surviving Gail are her daughters, Cathleen, Karen and Linda, seven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and soon a great-grandson.
Gail will be laid to rest at San Marco Catholic Church Memorial Garden in a private ceremony on Marco Island, Florida.
