He is survived by his loving children, Frank Keefer, III, Lucy Keefer and Richard Klein and four grandchildren, Nick Klein, Hunter Klein, Teagon Morison and Elliot Kolberg.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia “Gingie” Ann Keefer.
Frank was a special individual who impacted thousands of lives in his 78 years. A proud man with impeccable standards, he lived life on his own terms and was often called the "Real" Most Interesting Man in the World. He lived a hundred lives in one lifetime.
Frank was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a graduate of Baltimore City College and University of Baltimore. He proudly served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army Special Forces. He is a Vietnam veteran who was awarded numerous commendations including two Purple Hearts. He earned multiple black belts in martial arts and contributed to the popularization of skydiving.
Even at an early age his peers identified him as a natural born leader. Beginning with achieving Eagle Scout, throughout his military career, and in his many successful business endeavors Frank has been a leader, teacher, mentor and friend. He has been instrumental in helping teams and individuals realize both their professional and personal goals.
Frank was an incredible hunter and harvested several world class animals around the globe including The Big Five. He was a Life Member of the NRA and Safari Club International.
Frank proposed to his wife Gingie in a hot air balloon over the Mason-Dixon Line. After their first date (a blind date), Frank new she was the One. They had a marriage made in heaven and every day, for nearly 38 years they expressed their deep love for one another. They humbly served one another and surprised each other every day with acts of love and kindness and their fondest wish was that everyone loved each other as much as they did. They had a magical marriage, and their souls are forever intertwined through past lives, in this life and the Beyond for eternity.
They engaged in many beautiful home renovation projects – A historic antebellum property in Ellicott City, Maryland, another beautiful historic property on a peninsula on the Wye River in Queenstown, Maryland, and their most recent home nicknamed “The Hurricane House” in Hideaway located in Marco Island. They have resided in Hideaway for the past thirteen years.
Frank’s passing will leave a huge void in his community and the world. He achieved his dream of philanthropy and positively impacting others. He gave generously to nonprofit organizations that support wounded veterans. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends and he will be deeply missed. His legacy will live on through the tens of thousands of lives he has touched.
A visitation for Frank will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 E. Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL 34145. A graveside service will occur Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Marco Island Cemetery, 489 West Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL 34145.
