Frances Diebler a twenty year resident of Marco island passed away on Saturday, February 9th at the Manor Care of Lely Nursing Home in Naples; she was 78 yrs of age. Fran had been struggling with Dementia and Alzheimer's for the past 13 years; she lost her battle on Saturday evening.
She was a loving mother, wife, companion and friend who will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Fran was a member and officer of the Marco Island Garden Club and the Sailing Association of Marco Island. She was a member of the Power and Sail Squadron and the Marco Island Eagle Sanctuary Foundation. Also, she wrote numerous articles on cruising for the Coastal Breeze News.
Fran was born in Paterson, New Jersey and went to Central High School. Subsequently, her family moved to Hawthorne, New Jersey. There she enrolled in Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J., where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She taught English at Passaic High School before she retired to raise her family. Fran and her husband, Herman, have two boys, Herman Jr. and Eric living respectively in Virginia and Massachusetts, and a daughter, Victoria, who lives in Naples. When the children had grown, Fran became a substitute teacher at the middle school in Redding, CT, where the family lived for twenty years before moving to Marco Island. Herman has recently moved from Marco Island to the Esplanade community at Hacienda Lakes in Naples.
Fran and Herman have five grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at San Marco Catholic Church on February 18th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Marco Island Yacht Club at 11:30 a.m.
