Barbara Ann Everson died suddenly, but peacefully, at the age of 81 on July 15th, 2023. She was a resident of Marco Island, Florida for over 24 years. Barbara was born to the late Joseph and Lucy DiMattia in Wilmington, Delaware in 1942, the oldest of five children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Barbara is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years, David Everson, daughter Donna Pearl and husband David, and daughter Dawn Crockett and husband Daniel. She is preceded in death by her son, Dave Everson, Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Williams and husband Ryan, Colton Crockett and wife Deanna, Andrew Pearl, Alec Pearl, Nicholas Everson, and Dominic Everson, as well as two great-grandchildren, Lucia and Lee. She is also survived by her sisters JoAnn Steward and husband Bill, Christine Murray and husband Joe, Linda DiMattia Armstrong, her brother Joseph DiMattia and wife Karen and their families.
Barbara had a big heart and found joy in making people happy. She was a master crafter with tremendous talent and passion for embroidering and painting. Barbara loved animals and found great joy in her cat, KitKat. She found pleasure in cooking especially Italian dishes and made a few meatballs, homemade pizza, and pound cakes in her day. She loved playing games especially pinochle and dominos (recently learning Mahjong and Canasta) and drinking champagne with family and friends.
She was very loved and will remain in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 20th at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home with a Gathering of Family and Friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. Services will be available through Zoom at the following link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82271422694?pwd=UldKVzZzSVNESGZlK2ZDTXU5bWdEdz09
Zoom will begin at 1:45 PM.
