Weston Osborne Graves Jr., beloved son, father, and friend, was born on May 10, 1962, in Beverly, MA, to Sally and Weston Graves Sr. Wes's journey began in Marblehead, MA before moving to Rockport, MA, where he came of age with his lifelong friends, David Gray, Carl Wall, and Steve (Coco) Cocotas among others. As a young man, Wes became a passionate athlete and sports fan. He fell in love, especially with baseball which he played for Rockport High, Babson College, and the Rockport Townies. He graduated from Babson College in 1984 with a degree in Business.
As a young professional, Wes joined his father's company, Johanson and Graves, where his dedication and expertise helped the company become a premier plumbing and heating organization in the Boston area. Soon after, Wes became an entrepreneur starting his own promotional merchandise business, The Sports Team, which enjoyed many years of success serving the marketing needs of many well-known companies.
In 1987, when his mother Sally Erwin Graves fell ill, Wes and his sisters tirelessly cared for her, demonstrating the depth of their love and commitment to family. Wes's family expanded in 1989 with the arrival of his first son, Joseph (Joe) Graves. Over the years, Wes welcomed four more children, Bailey, Bradley (Brad), Isabelle (Belle), and Weston III (Trip), completing his family unit. Though Wes was known for his spontaneous choices, he always prioritized ensuring his children's well-being and imparting to them the importance of pursuing their dreams and living life to the fullest.
Wes's love for baseball became a cherished bond with his children as he coached them to numerous championship victories, instilling in them the same passion he held for the sport. Beyond baseball, the Graves family along with much of their extended family and friends shared memorable moments with Wes skiing at Loon Mountain during the winter months. During the summer months, Wes, a formidable golfer on the North Shore, took immense pleasure in playing the game he loved and following golfing events.
Known for his straightforwardness, Wes never minced words, always expressing his thoughts and emotions openly. An enthusiastic storyteller, he effortlessly captivated those around him with often-embellished tales and playful jokes. Recently engaged to his best friend, Elizabeth Dolan, Wes eagerly looked forward to embarking on a new chapter of his life. He leaves behind his five children, as well as his devoted sisters, Julie Coleman (David Coleman) and Sarah Mairo (John Mairo), along with their children and their loving families.
Weston O. Graves Jr. will forever be remembered as a generous individual who touched the lives of many through his unconditional love for family, his athletic pursuits, and his genuine, unfiltered nature. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
