So sorry for your loss. Mr. Goodwin was one of my favorite teachers.  Although I was not a  great student,  he had a way of encouraging me and the members of his classes.  He was able to bring  out the best in  his students.  I am grateful to have brushed beside him. 

I had Mr. Goodwin for English in 7th grade.   He reinforced my love of the English language and  he taught me the value of proper punctuation.  He also asked me to never use my horrible cursive on any test, quiz, or composition  that I submitted, but he took the sting out of that request by making me laugh.
He was a gift to every one of his students, because he cared.  R.I.P., Mr. Goodwin.

Mr. Goodwin was one of my favorite teachers in both Jr and Senior High.
When he learned of my interest in the Kennedy family, he gave me a candid picture of the president which he took MR Goodwin and the president were in Hyannisport.
Even after I no longer had him as a teacher, I would visit Mr Goodwin at his home and have hang out

Dear Sylvia and Family,
I am so sad that Bob is gone.  He was such a fine man and always a gentleman.  And  he was the grammar guru on whom I depended in my early years teaching.  
I can remember that bemused smile when I doubted him and then as he explained his reasoning.  He  was a kind "mentor" who helped me navigate my early teaching years.  He wasn't that much older than I was, but he seemed like another generation, wiser than I. 
 There are not many men men like him around, not now or then .

Mr. Goodwin taught me more about grammar, style, rigor and the integrity of writing in the English language, than anyone else before or since. And I was only in the 7th grade. I will never forget his lessons: don't start a sentence with the word 'And', using a generic phrase like 'a great deal' is meaningless fluff and NEVER use the word 'things'! I think of him when I am writing all the time.
I am most grateful for his straightforward honesty and humor. Elements that he taught us to use in our writing as well as in our thinking.

Wonderful English teacher.   He organized a small after-school group to tackle Ulysses.  We didn’t finish it but I never forgot him.

We are so  sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of the best teachers I had and my wife and I enjoyed learning wines from him from his time at Kappy's. Our condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.

I loved Bob both when he was a teacher and after he retired. Just one hell of a guy.  Over the years both my dad and I often saw him at Kappy’s and he never failed to greet us warmly and as a Marbleheader! Over the years, I have made writing a big part of my career and I credit Bob with being a big part of being able to write with correct grammatical form and using the solid composition skills he taught me and hundreds of other students under his able tutelage. When I was a selectman he even got my a copy of the small format book on grammar that he taught us from and it was in my personal library for well over 40 years. I don’t know how many times I have given credit to him when people say I have written something well or inspiring. He was such a kind and gentle soul. Condolences to the Goodwin family during this difficult time. Whip and RIP, Bob.,
